Walking In Unity by Molly Wingard Joy In The Lord Ministries - Redfield, AR
Webster Dictionary: unity means a condition of harmony.
Understand that your conduct is the most effective sermon you will ever preach. Live a life that will give consistent, undeniable evidence of the truth of the gospel. Unity is the responsibility of each Child of God and is to be pursued earnestly. Strive for the unity in all you do.
Being a Child of God we are His Representatives here on earth. We should live worthy of the call that we have received from God. It’s a wonderful privilege of being called Children of God.
Psalm 133:1 celebrates the beauty of brothers and sisters living "in unity." Unity is living at peace with one another, and preserving the oneness that the Spirit imparts to all who are baptized into the body of Christ.
Ephesians 4:1-6 (KJV) v1. "I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation where with you are called, v2. With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love; v3. Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. V4. There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; v5. One Lord, one faith, one baptism, v6. One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all and in all and in you all."
What the Lord our God requires of us is consideration - to grant us a privilege or special favor.
Walk worthy of your call: Children of God ought to make themselves fit and suitable by which they are called. We are called to God’s Kingdom and Glory. When people are watching us; Who do they see? Walk worthy in your conduct.
Webster’s dictionary - worthy means having worth or value.
We are called Children of God; and we must answer to that name because we are His heirs. We can not walk worthy in our calling without meekness and lowliness of heart. Walk in all lowliness - meekness - with longsuffering and forbearing one another in love.
None of us will ever be perfect. We must love others in spite of their faults. When we see faults in others we must be patient with them. Forbearing one another in love means bearing their problems out of love.
A step toward unity is humility; without that there is no patience, meekness nor forbearance and then there is no unity. Pride brings contention and humility brings love.
God leads but we must be willing to follow and to do our part to keep the peace. We can do that if we keep our FOCUS on God.
