The Feast Of Shavuot
by PJ

PJPA2.GIF

Fifty (50) days from the Feast of First Fruits comes another Feast of Israel. It is known among Christians as Pentecost. Among Jews it is known as Shavuot. The name comes from the 50 days.

Leviticus 23:15-22 (AMP), "15And you shall count from the day after the Sabbath, from the day that you brought the sheaf of the wave offering, seven Sabbaths; [seven full weeks] shall they be. 16Count fifty days to the day after the seventh Sabbath; then you shall present a cereal offering of new grain to the Lord. 17You shall bring from your dwellings two loaves of bread to be waved, made from two-tenths of an ephah of fine flour; they shall be baked with leaven, for firstfruits to the Lord.18And you shall offer with the bread seven lambs, a year old and without blemish, and one young bull and two rams. They shall be a burnt offering to the Lord, with their cereal offering and their drink offerings, an offering made by fire, of a sweet and satisfying fragrance to the Lord. 19Then you shall sacrifice one he-goat for a sin offering and two he-lambs, a year old, for a sacrifice of peace offering. 20The priest shall wave the two lambs, together with the bread of the firstfruits, for a wave offering before the Lord. They shall be holy to the Lord for the priest. 21You shall make proclamation the same day, summoning a holy assembly; you shall do no servile work that day. It shall be a statute forever in all your dwellings throughout your generations. 22And when you reap the harvest of your land, you shall not wholly reap the corners of your field, neither shall you gather the gleanings of your harvest; you shall leave them for the poor and the stranger. I am the Lord your God."

Shavuot is a feast of harvest, in fact, the summer harvest. It is a holiday remembering the giving of the Law at Mt. Sinai.

When G-d gave the Law to Moshe at Mount Sinai, 3,000 were slain when the law judged their disobedience. Exodus 32:26-28 (AMP)"26Then Moses stood in the gate of the camp, and said, Whoever is on the Lord's side, let him come to me. And all the Levites [the priestly tribe] gathered together to him. 27And he said to them, Thus says the Lord God of Israel, Every man put his sword on his side and go in and out from gate to gate throughout the camp and slay every man his brother, and every man his companion, and every man his neighbor. 28And the sons of Levi did according to the word of Moses; and there fell of the people that day about 3000 men."

Shavuot is also the day the Ruach Ha'Kodesh came to dwell in men. Acts 2:1-4 (AMP)"1AND WHEN the day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all assembled together in one place, 2When suddenly there came a sound from heaven like the rushing of a violent tempest blast, and it filled the whole house in which they were sitting. 3And there appeared to them tongues resembling fire, which were separated and distributed and which settled on each one of them. 4And they were all filled (diffused throughout their souls) with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other (different, foreign) languages (tongues), as the Spirit kept giving them clear and loud expression [in each tongue in appropriate words]."

When G-d gave the Ruach Ha'Kodesh to the Church, 3,000 were added. Acts 2:41 "41Therefore those who accepted and welcomed his message were baptized, and there were added that day about 3,000 souls."

We can learn a great deal from Shavuot. It is the birthday of Judaism where the law was given at Mt. Sinai. The letter of the law came and killed 3,000. But G-d never forgets even the smallest details. It is also the birthday of the Church where the Ruach Ha'Kodesh was sent to dwell in men. The Spirit brings life and 3,000 were added.

Who are the two lambs and the two loaves waved before G-d on this precious day? I believe they are the followers of Yeshua and the Jews. The two sticks, the two bowls of oil, the two to become one in the hand of the Jewish Moshiach.

Many times I have heard the Church talk about how Jews did not receive the Jewish Moshiach, Yeshua. That is not true. If it were true, no one would know Him. The Jewish Moshiach came to the Jews and it was through Jews the gospel was taken to the Gentiles.

The original Church was 100% Jewish and Jews DID receive the Jewish Moshiach. No, 100% of Jews did not receive Yeshua but neither have 100% of the Gentiles. On the day the Ruach Ha'Kodesh came to dwell in men, 3,000 Jews were added to the Church. The next day 5,000 more Jews were added to the Church. It was Jews who received the Ruach Ha'Kodesh first. There were no Gentiles in the Church at this time but G-d has always kept a remnant of believing Jews. You might ask, "PJ why are you addressing this issue?" The attitude of the gentile Church has kept Jews separated from the Jewish Moshiach for 2000 years. This time is over. I believe everyone can benefit from a study of Romans 11. The original branches are being grafted back in at a phenomenal rate.

The other languages aka tongues of the Ruach Ha'Kodesh manifestation were the confirmation of the redemption of the confounding of the languages at the Tower of Babel. It was also a sign that salvation would go to Gentiles. I believe that salvation has gone nearly full circle and that the day of the Gentile is at it's end. The official end will come with the rapture but for Jews it is easy to see that G-d's attention is already back upon His people, Israel.

The last time the entire Church was together in one place was the day Shavuot when the Ruach Ha'Kodesh was sent to indwell men. It was the Jewish Moshiach, Yeshua, keeping a Feast of Israel.
