Gold
by PJ

Have you been going through great adversity? Are you fighting sickness, depression, betrayal, or any other great pain and trial? Have you felt great pressure and great heat? I believe many of you are in these situations and G-d has a word for you.

Mashali/Proverbs 27:21 (AMP) says, "As the refining pot for silver and the furnace for gold [bring forth all the impurities of the metal], so let a man be in his trial of praise [ridding himself of all that is base or insincere; for a man is judged by what he praises and of what he boasts].

Gold, more than any other metal, has captivated the human psyche. It's rare, it's easily workable, it never tarnishes, and it's often used as the means for exchange of goods. An ounce of gold can be smelted and stretched into a thread more than 50 miles in length or rolled into a 100 square foot sheet. Gold lasts practically forever.

Gold never oxidizes or corrodes and only a few rare acids will attack gold. Gold can be reused and re-refined, so much so that the metal in your ring may be newly mined or from an ancient piece.

Gold has only one problem, it's so soft that it often has to be alloyed with other metals. As a result, gold is alloyed with metals with a lower melting temperature so the alloys can be melted away and the gold separated and re-used again. Gold is put into a furnace for smelting.

Silver is more difficult to work than gold, although it's more abundant and can take a higher polish. It's greatest drawback is that it tarnishes. Silver only needs to heated in a pot over a fire to remove the impurities.

Mashali/Proverbs 17:3 (AMP) says, "The refining pot is for silver and the furnace for gold, but the Lord tries the hearts."

The heart is even more precious than silver and gold. Therefore instead of a pot or a furnace, the L-rd is needed to effect the change of a heart to it's purest form. The heart's purest form is filled with the love of G-d. When the love of G-d is present, He is. When He is......the miraculous shows up.

Malkhi/Malachi 3:3 (AMP) says "He will sit as a refiner and a purifier of silver, and He will purify the priests, the sons of Levi, and refine them like gold and silver, that they may offer to the Lord offerings in righteousness."

Song of Solomon 4:16 (AMP) says "[You have called me a garden, she said] Oh, I pray that the [cold] north wind and the [soft] south wind may blow upon my garden, that its spices may flow out [in abundance for you in whom my soul delights]. Let my beloved come into his garden and eat its choicest fruits."

Are we truly willing to have the north wind of adversity blow upon our lives if it will better fit us for Moshiach's/Christ's presence? Are we truly willing to be put into the refining heat or the fiery furnace to be refined as a vessel of honor with the impurities removed? Are we truly willing to lay down whatever G-d requires?

I believe many of us have been in the fire and we've come through as gold. Our hearts have been tried, our motivations have been tried, our love of G-d has been tried. Faith has been tried sorely.

The Word I hear for all of us comes from the Book of Yob/Job. Yob/Job 23:10 says, "But he knows where I am going. And when he tests me, I will come out as pure gold." The heat of adversity didn't weaken Job. It strengthened him through purification. Job's faith lost nothing of it's nature or weight. It came through pure.

Why does adversity come? Because for the glory to come, great darkness must come first. You cannot have one without the other. Come out as pure gold! Be a golden vessel for the Master's use.

Matit'yah ha-Levi/Matthew 5:8 says, "Blessed are the pure of heart; for they shall see God." A heart that is tried by turning to the L-rd and learning his ways is able to purify out the hatred and fill with love. A heart is tried to purify out the pride and fill with obedience and reason. A pure heart shall see G-d because G-d is pure.

I have seen many I love go through the most severe trials this past year. I praise G-d for His mercy and mighty deliverance through Yeshua/Jesus. May we all come forth with pure and gold hearts. A pure heart is a tried heart and a pure heart can carry the light of G-d and His glory.
