Let's Think About Our G-d
by PJ

Philippians 4:8 "For the rest, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is worthy of reverence and is honorable and seemly, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely and lovable, whatever is kind and winsome and gracious, if there is any virtue and excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think on and weigh and take account of these things [fix your minds on them]."(AMP) Sometimes I think Believers do not stop to contemplate a very simple but profound thought. The Word of G-d is always fulfilling it's purpose. G-d doesn't just speak to hear Himself speak. His words have absolute purpose. Philippians 4:8 is not in G-d's Word for no reason.

Why would G-d desire us to think on good things? Why would He desire us to look for truth, honesty, justice, purity, loveliness, good report, virtue, praise and to think upon them? The answer is found in G-d's Word. Titus 1:15 (AMP) says, "To the pure [in heart and conscience] all things are pure, but to the defiled and corrupt and unbelieving nothing is pure; their very minds and consciences are defiled and polluted."

How important are the thoughts we allow in our mind? According to G-d's Word, they are very important. When we allow thoughts to linger or be dwelled on, they turn into words. Those words produce fruit..life or death. The power of life and death are in the tongue. Once we speak words, they become actions. Matit'yah ha-Levi / Matthew 12:34, 36, 37 AMP say "...for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh. But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned."

We are made in G-d's image and we have been created speaking spirits. What we speak is life or it's death. We create with our words just as our Father created the universe with His because we are images of Him being speaking spirits. II Corinthians 4:13 AMP says "We having the same spirit of faith according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak."

This is why we should speak the Word of the L-rd. He is faithful to watch over and perform His Words. Only His Words meet all the criteria of Philippians 4:8. When we are focused upon His Word...we have no death seeds coming into the earth of our bodies.

It all begins in the mind. This is why the mind is the battleground for victory or defeat in our lives. Every moment since becoming a born again believer, I've noticed a conflict in my mind between what my mind wants to think about and what the Bible says I should think about. But G-d gave me a piece of armor to fight evil thoughts. He also gave you this piece of armor. In Ephesians 6 He calls it the "helmet of salvation." I am convinced if people would put on their armor daily, many of ha`satan's/satan's plans would be stopped in their tracks.

Romans 12:2 AMP says "And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God." The mind plays a crucial transforming role. The mind must be renewed by the constant input of the Word.

The mind is under constant attack by the enemy. He launches the fiery darts of evil thoughts, questions, doubts, fears, unbeliefs straight into our minds. These are all those thoughts you keep wondering where originated. Unless we are renewing our minds by the Word of G-d, staying in the Word allowing it to wash us, speaking the Word, praying the Word, living the Word, wearing the armor of G-d, walking under the blood of Yeshua/Jesus, we are exposed to the neverending onslaught of these fiery darts.

2 Corinthians 10:3-6 AMP "For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Moshiach/Christ, and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled."

Philippians 4:8 gives us clear perspective. Only when we maintain our focus on these things in Philippians 4:8,will we be able to say "to the pure all things are pure." Also remember, Who is all these things? There is only One Person, Yeshua HaMashiach/Jesus Christ. When we dwell on the true, noble, just, pure, etc., we are dwelling on Moshiach/Christ Himself.

Philippians 4:8 is the measure by which we must judge all our thoughts. If we find that our thoughts don't agree with Philippians 4:8, then we must make alterations. It takes work but the fruit produced is astonishing.

We all have been attacked with all kinds of evil thoughts. This is how the enemy tries to destroy us. He shoots arrows of evil thoughts at our minds night and day. It's up to us to accept or reject those thoughts. Remember Judas Iscariot? He first entertained the thought of betraying Yeshua/Jesus before he acted it out. We will not even notice those ung-dly thoughts unless we are in the Word on a daily basis. So use the Word of Philippians 4:8 as a guard for your thought life and a measure tool of judgment. When we judge ourselves, we spare ourselves judgment.

If we keep our hearts and minds upon G-d and His Word, we shall speak truth and life and we will walk in victory. Let's think about our G-d!
