The Secret To Prayer

Over the years, I've heard many a good sermon about prayer, but it wasn't until I got down on my knees and tried to pray an hour daily that I found out how boring it was. I remember talking to the L-rd non-stop, trying to do every single point in every single sermon I'd ever heard and was failing miserably. I would pray very faithfully for a day or two and get bored and suddenly I wouldn't be praying at all. I got a few prayers answered, but the struggle with prayer caused me to fail many times. That is....until I found the secret.

It wasn't until my life was in such disaster after the death of someone close to me and my anger with the L-rd over this death that the key to prayer came. And the reason I want to share this with you is so you can learn something that will set you free in prayer in a way no one bothered to teach me. Had I learned the secret to prayer years ago, I would have been so full of G-d by now that no one could catch up with me.

Prayer is not some ritual. It's not some words in some prayer book. I can tell you that G-d is very bored with these prayer book prayers and doesn't even listen. Prayer isn't spending time on your knees crying your eyes out pleading for some divine intervention.

Prayer is conversation with the Almighty!

Now there's a protocol to going to the throne of the Almighty. The Ruach Ha`Kodesh/Holy Spirit showed me this protocol and it's the right way to approach the Throne of G-d. When we recall that Heaven is a Kingdom and the Adonai/G-d is the KING, we know that even for an earthly king, much more the King of the Universe, there is a protocol to come before the throne. So let's look at the Scriptures and see how to approach our KING.

First we must realize that Yeshua/Jesus is the Way, The Truth, the Life, (the 3 doors) leading to the Holy of Holies where the throne is located. Unless we are going through these doors, we shall never make it to the Holy of Holies and the throne. To do this we must search our hearts and repent of our sins and make Yeshua/Jesus our L-rd. You cannot get to the throne any other way. Yeshua/Jesus said in Yochanan/John 14:6 AMP, "I am the way, the truth and the life and no one comes to the Father except through me." What happens when we go through Yeshua/Jesus? We exchange our unrighteousness for His righteousness. We become the righteousness of G-d in Yeshua HaMashiach/Jesus Christ. Therefore we are cleansed and robed in the righteousness of Yeshua/Jesus. So we don't operate in our goodness but in that of Yeshua. Frankly, G-d never tells Yeshua/Jesus no. That's why when we are standing before the throne in the righteousness of Yeshua/Jesus, the answers to our prayers are always "Yes and amen!" So now that we are robed in righteousness, we can begin our entrance through the doors toward the Holy of Holies where the throne of G-d resides.

There's no better authority on the earth of the protocol to come before a King than a King. King David said in T`hilim/Psalm 100 verse 4 (AMP), "Enter into His gates with thanksgiving and a thank offering and into His courts with praise! Be thankful and say so to Him, bless and affectionately praise His name!" Thanksgiving and praise bring us fully into the presence of G-d's throne. They cause us to look upon His face.

I have a very rudimentary example of the power of looking upon the face. I have a dog named Muttley. I often call him Matzo Dog. He's a mutt I rescued from the animal shelter who is precious. Now Muttley knows lots of tricks and he will do just about anything for a scrap of "people" food opposed to "dog" food. Muttley has these big beautiful eyes that make him so cute that you almost can't deny him anything. And he uses them to full extent. Now and then I will get a slice of cheese and use it as a bait to get Muttley to learn new things. Now he will sit up and look at me and then look at the cheese, begging for what is in my hand. And when he gets his mind more on the food than me, it annoys me because I am trying to teach him something. As a result, I won't give him what's in my hand. But when Muttley looks at me eye-to-eye and is understanding what I am requiring of him, he doesn't even have to look at what is in my hand to reward him......he automatically gets it and sometimes he gets a lot more.

That's what G-d does with us during thanksgiving and praise. He gets us to focus on Him as the Source of all we need and desire. Oh, He will give us what we need and desire, it's in His hand. But He will not release what is in His hand until we focus on Him and what He requires.

Praise and thanksgiving magnify G-d's presence. It builds a habitation for Him to dwell. It increases His Divine Presence so He can give us what we need and desire. Don't try to avoid this part, even when your prayer is for a life/death emergency. This is a vital key to throne-room protocol. You will not get what you need and desire without it.

Mashiakim Yehudim/Hebrews 4:16 AMP says "Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in a time of need." This is where we are to come before the throne. You know when you come before the throne, you are not to come timidly. You are to come BOLDLY. Why? Because you BELONG there. Because you have a covenant RIGHT to be there. You are dressed in the righteousness of Yeshua/Jesus!

Yesha`yah/Isaiah 45:11 AMP says something quite interesting. "Thus saith the LORD, the Holy One of Israel, and his Maker, Ask me of things to come concerning my sons, and concerning the works of my hands command ye me." How can you command the works of His hands? Have you ever thought about it? There's only one way. It's with His Word! Pray the WORD! Also pray in the SPIRIT!

You might as well not even bother to pray if you don't believe the Word of G-d. There is also no use praying if you don't believe G-d will answer you. And you might as well expect unanswered prayer if you don't know what G-d's will is on a subject. I can tell you the Word is His will! You can learn that from the L-rd's prayer that he taught as a model to His disciples in Ur/Luke 11.

Yesha`yah/Isaiah 65:24 AMP  "And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear."

Matit`yah ha-Levi/Matthew 7:7-8  AMP "Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you; For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth, and to him that knocketh it shall be opened."

Matit`yah ha-Levi/Matthew 21:22 AMP "And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive."

Matit`yah ha-Levi/Matthew 18:19-20 AMP "Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven. For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them."

Yochanan Makabi/Mark 11:24 AMP "Therefore I say unto you, What things soeever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them."

But the secret.....ah yes the secret. The secret of prayer is not only in the asking of what we need and desire. It's in the hearing of the King's response. For too many years we have only been taught to hold one way conversations with the King. He wants to communicate and spend time with us.

You know.......no one told me this part. It wasn't until I waited upon the L-RD for 12 hours on my face in a pool of tears crying out to Him for answers for my life that I found out He speaks back. *grin* And you know what He said to me? "I have been speaking to you for years but you never stopped talking long enough to listen!" How many times had I missed the answers because I did not wait upon the King to hear His voice so I could obey? How many times had I missed all He had for me because I never learned to be still and know He is G-d?

Prayer is a two way conversation. It's how I developed such a close relationship with Yeshua/Jesus that He began to show me things outside the earthly realm. It's now my life. I can't imagine talking so much in prayer anymore. I just want to listen to Him speak. He has a LOT to say.

I have so much fun with my long conversations with the Master that I lose track of time. I have spent up to 12 hours in prayer and didn't even know where the time went. My life radically changed. I pray all the time anymore. I pray while I work, I pray while I play, I pray during prayer time. You see........my prayer life has evolved into relationship and a life with Him.

I urge you to pray as if your life depends on it. It truly does. You will never know the fulness of life in the Kingdom with the King until you do.
